ETM’s Board Welcomes Two New Members

ETM is pleased to announce the election of two new board members, Seung-Hee Kang and Karen Karlsrud.

After making her debut on the piano at the age of nine with the Seoul Symphony Orchestra as the youngest winner of their auditions, Seung-Hee Hyun Kang has won the Chopin, Bach, and Brahms competitions and has performed concertos with the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Halle Orchestra at their Proms, the Rochester Philharmonic, and four sold out concerts at the Berlin Philharmonie with Das Sinfonie Berlin and other orchestras. Seung-Hee studied with Eleanor Sokoloff at The Curtis Institute, with LeonFleisher at the Peabody Conservatory f Music, with Maria Curcio-Diamond in London, and at die Hochschule der Kunste in Berlin with Klaus Hellwig. She is on the New York committee of The Curtis Institute of Music and various committees at the Spence School.

Karen M. Karlsrud is an accomplished professional violinist, and has performed and recorded with many classical artists and ensembles including the New York City Ballet, New York Pops, The Orchestra of St. Luke's and The American Symphony. Her commercial credits encompass over two hundred major motion picture film scores and recordings, including Oscar, Grammy and Platinum record award-winning works. Ms. Karlsrud graduated from Oberlin College with a degree in English and studied violin in the Oberlin Conservatory. She has been on the faculty of The Brearley School since 1994.
