ETM was hired by the United Federation of Teachers Charter School in East New York, Brooklyn, as a consultant for their music program. The ETM program staff provided professional development to the school's entire staff, mentored their music teacher, and assisted in concert preparation.
"Music teachers are usually very isolated from one another, but it is important to get ideas and feedback from others in the field," says ETM Field Supervisor Chris Marolf. "By expanding our scope to provide professional development and consulting services outside of our partner schools, we are improving the quality of music education for more schools." ETM plans to assist additional schools in a consultant capacity for the 2009-2010 school year.
