Education Through Music (ETM), New York City’s comprehensive music education program serving 14,000 students weekly in 28 inner-city schools throughout the school year, announces a new New York City Summer Music Academy, to keep students engaged in learning throughout the summer break. The Summer Music Academy will be held July 8 – August 1, 2013.
The Summer Music Academy will be held at MS 529 – One World Middle School, 3750 Baychester Avenue in the Bronx. The morning session will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and the full-day session will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a break for lunch.
Participating students who attend an ETM partner school may attend the Summer Music Academy. Students come from grades 4 through 8 . The Academy ensures general music, musical theater, orchestra and band students continue to develop their skills throughout the summer. ETM utilizes music education as a catalyst to improve academic achievement, motivation for school and self-confidence. Music instruction provided by ETM’s teachers supports learning in other key areas, including math and language arts.
