ETM Featured on ABC’s Eyewitness News

In late October, ABC Eyewitness News Education Reporter Art McFarland visited ETM partner school P.S. 69 in the Bronx to profile the music program. ETM invited Mr. McFarland to the school to visit with the kindergarten and 4th grade music and math classes, and to speak with teachers, students, and parents about the importance of music in their school, and how, by having access to music, the percentages of students attaining proficiency on standardized Reading and Math tests have increased by up to 35 points in the past two years. Pianist Visits Bronx School

Ukrainian-born American pianist Inna Faliks treated 6th-8th graders at ETM partner school St. Brendan to a concert including Liszt, Mozart and a new work. Having made her Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut at 15, Ms. Faliks performs all over the world and received the 2005 Pro Musicis International Award. We thank her for spending an October morning in the Bronx to enrich the lives of our students.

ETM Staff Member Receives Award

On October 15, the Town of Westport, CT, and its Arts Advisory Committee presented its annual Horizon Award to ETM Director of Development and Program Evaluation Katherine Canning.

Committee Member John J. Simon said, "The Horizon Awards are about the future — particularly the future of the Arts. That future — if the Arts are indeed to be part of it — must include education…. This year we recognize a young person who is devoting her talents to education and to the future."
