ETM Collaborates with the Stamford Symphony on Student Concert

For the second year in a row, ETM partnered with the Stamford Symphony to prepare teachers and students for its American Experience concert.  This year's performance, on April 16 at the Palace Theater, was attended by 4th and 5th graders from the Stamford public schools, and the pieces on the program related to the state Social Studies standards.

ETM developed a series of lesson plans and provided a professional development workshop for the school music teachers to assist them in preparing the students for the concert and highlighting the social studies connections.

The concert included selections by Joplin and Copland, an original piece based upon Abraham Lincoln's life in which winners of a district-wide essay contest read their essays onstage while accompanied by the Symphony, and a very spirited sing-along to "You're a Grand Old Flag."
