This February, P.S. 38, P.S. 43, P.S. 76 and P.S. 121 debuted their band programs with “Breakfast with the Band” performances. Breakfast was provided for the family, friends, and community members who attended these early-morning events to watch the children display their talents. The students performed selections showcasing both the individual prowess of each section and also the ensemble skills of the band as a whole.
ETM’s supplemental instrumental programs give children the opportunity to explore and apply the musical knowledge they have gained during ETM’s in-school general music instruction. The bands are open to 5th grade students, who, in addition to attending weekly general music class with their classmates, attend band rehearsals and group lessons every week.
