Education Through Music Celebrates 25th Year with Benefit Gala

Support our events headerEducation Through Music (ETM) will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at its Children’s Benefit Gala on Monday, June 13th, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. The Gala will take place at Cipriani 42nd Street.

This highly-anticipated annual Gala will feature two Grammy award-winning artists: jazz trumpet player Chris Botti, and longstanding Board member and violinist Joshua Bell. Christine Baranski, Tony and Emmy-winning actress and star of the hit show The Good Wife, will emcee the event.

ETM is also thrilled to be honoring Steinway & Sons. For over 160 years, Steinway & Sons has been dedicated to the ideal of making the finest pianos in the world, creating instruments renowned for their uncompromising craftsmanship and unsurpassed quality. Equal to their commitment to excellence is their unremitting support of music education. In 2015 Steinway & Sons joined Education Through Music (ETM) in its efforts to bring music education to the economically disadvantaged children of New York City. This multi-year philanthropic relationship will enable ETM to expand its school partnerships to reach more NYC children, support music teacher education, and promote the importance of music education in schools.

“It is amazing to see the progress we have made over the past 25 years, from serving a single school with music education to reaching 27,000 students in 48 inner-city schools,” says ETM Executive Director Katherine Damkohler. “With our supporters’ help, we look forward to growing our footprint and partnering with even more schools to serve students with high-quality music education.”
