Professional Development Opportunities

Education Through Music (ETM) offers extensive professional development (PD) opportunities to School Leaders, Music and Non-Music teachers, and local community members. Participants of ETM’s PD also gain access to the ETM Digital Resource Library, including reference books, repertoire, videos, lesson plans, and other curricular materials.

ETM Workshops

ETM PD Workshops are designed to improve the efficacy of the music teacher in the classroom. Workshops emphasize a student-centered approach where expected outcomes are clear, and student learning is assessed. We prepare teachers to exceed expectations in Planning and Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities by offering them practical strategies and teaching resources.

Sample Workshops
• Creating an engaging environment
• Motivating young musicians
• Curriculum-driven lesson planning
• Effective rubrics & assessment
• Classroom procedures & routines
• Classroom management
• Leveraging technology in the classroom
• Conducting technique
• Rehearsal strategies
• Age-appropriate repertoire
• Managing large ensembles
• Instrument-specific pedagogy

ETM One-on-One Support

ETM One-on-One Support is designed for general music teachers; band, orchestra, and choral directors; and music technology specialists. One-on-One Support includes modeling, team teaching, coaching, observation, and feedback by seasoned music educators and can be provided remotely or in-person.
