Suzie Berndt

Ms. Suzie is a Pennsylvania native but has been teaching and making music for the past 9 years in the San Francisco Bay Area. She taught K-5 music at five elementary schools (a different one each day!) in San Francisco Unified School District from 2016–2021 and holds a California Teaching Credential in Music.

Ms. Suzie obtained her Bachelor of Music Education from James Madison University in 2009 and a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from Arizona State University in 2012. She will complete the Kodály Certificate at Holy Names University in summer 2022 and specializes in music of Senegal & Ghana, Indonesia, and the Pacific Islands. She is particularly interested in learning how children experience music education around the world and thus has toured primary school music programs in Budapest, Hungary, and Auckland, New Zealand.

Ms. Suzie is also a private instructor of piano, violin, and ukulele. Besides music, she loves biking, sea creatures, traveling the world, and iced coffee. She is beyond excited to make music with young people in NYC!
