Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Xiomara Niño is a choral conductor, musician, and educator based in New York City. She holds an A.A.S in Fine Arts from SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology, a B.A. in Music Education from CUNY Queens College and a M.A in Community Education from Goddard College. This is Xiomara’s 7th year teaching music in the NYC school system. For three years she conducted the WHIN Music Project chorus, an El Sistema nucleo in Washington Heights. Xiomara is passionate about making sure that each and every one of her students gets the necessary tools to enjoy a lifetime of artistic expression and music making. She applies her diverse background in visual arts, folk dancing, theater and community work to create interactive and multi-cultural lessons and performances.
