"The Wild Robot" - May 15, 2025

Academy Award-Winning Composer Kris Bowers ("The Last Repair Shop," "Bridgerton") shared audio clips from the film to show how music amplified emotional messages of community, motherhood, and kindness. In the score, the maternal love Roz has for Brightbill is demonstrated in the main theme as one melody that grows with their developing relationship throughout the course of the movie.

It’s a special feeling to find community and to create with them.

"Bao" - February 15, 2024

Composer & Arranger Toby Chu (Pixar’s "Bao," "Tron: Legacy," "Call of Duty") shared the transformative power of music in conveying perspectives and understanding others. He reflected, “When you learn about music you get this almost magical ability to understand others, even if they don’t speak the same language. Music is a sort of language of feeling that we all understand, that we all relate to.”

Animation is a musical way to bring images to life.

"Raya and the Last Dragon" - May 21, 2021

In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, "Raya and the Last Dragon" Family Hour featured special drawing tutorials and musical demonstrations. Global Musical Artist Pedro Eustache demonstrated numerous Asian flutes from such countries as China and Mongolia — including a tsuur and ocarina made from an ostrich egg. He also demonstrated the interdental technique, for which the flute is played between teeth while singing at the same time.
