G MiMs is a hip-hop artist hailing from Harlem, New York and the son of “The Koolest Legend” and hip-hop pioneer, Kool DJ Red Alert.
He grew up engulfed in hip-hop music and quickly developed an adoration for rhythm, melody and rhyme by the age of 12. While focusing his childhood years playing basketball and using basketball to create opportunities for college. At the same time G MiMs was developing a raw ear for music, a versatile flow and a well-crafted writing ability. The Source Magazine stated, “G MiMs immersion into the roots of hip-hop go much further than his pops, DJ Red Alert. It’s clear that he’s taken notes on the game from some of the greats before him and he’s ready to blaze new paths for those to follow behind him. Don’t sleep.”
During and after college, MiMs performed at rap competitions, local events, showcases, as well as some of the hottest stages in New York City; such as SOB’s, BB Kings and Brooklyn Bowl. He also appeared on radio stations Hot 97, Power 105, WBLS and KISS FM. He has released a series of mixtapes, one entitled “Up In Smoke” hosted by the legendary DJ Funkmaster Flex. MiMs also appeared on Flex’s Freestyles on Hot 97. Additionally, he was featured on Shade 45’s “Sway In The Morning”. He has appeared on billboards ad print ads for AT&T.
