Joell Ortiz

Joell Ortiz was previously signed as a solo artist to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. He is a founding member of the rap super-group Slaughterhouse which was signed to Eminem’s Shady Records. In 2012, Slaughterhouse’s sophomore album “Welcome to: Our House” landed at #1 on the Rap and R&B charts while reaching #2 on the Billboard 200.

The Brooklyn native is one of the most respected MC’s to come from New York City. Hamilton writer and creator, Lin Manuel-Miranda has publicly recognized Ortiz as the rapper that he studied to learn how to write lyrics and rap. Ortiz appeared alongside fellow MC Busta Rhymes on the title “My Shot” which appeared on “The Hamilton Mixtape” and was also the end credits on “Hamilton” which appeared on Disney+.

Ortiz has collaborated with a who’s who list of artists in the genre including Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, French Montana, Kool G Rap, Talib Kweli and many more. He most recently appeared on the song “I Will” featured on Eminem’s latest studio album “Music To Be Murdered By”.
