Two ETM principals were recently recognized for their roles in helping their schools achieve success.
Dr. Giovanna Delucchi, principal of P.S. 43 in the Bronx, was selected for the 2011 Cahn Fellows Program, a fellowship program that honors and invests in its most effective school leaders to strengthen the public school system. ETM congratulates Principal Delucchi on her selection to participate in this prestigious program.
On Dec. 1, Jacqueline Pitta, Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Education, visited M.S. 180 in Co-op City, Bronx, on behalf of U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. She was sent to the school after the Secretary received a letter from Doris Green, grandmother of a student at M.S. 180, which praised the school for the opportunities it provided for her grandson and his classmates. M.S. 180 Principal Frank Uzzo led Ms. Pitta on a tour of the school, and introduced her to the school’s teachers, staff, and students. After her visit, Ms. Pitta congratulated Mr. Uzzo and M.S. 180: “The school is wonderful. Incorporating the arts into the learning process is wonderful. [The students] are applying themselves and want to be here.”
