Coleman Zurkowski

Coleman Zurkowski is a music educator and music composer. Originally from Havre de Grace, Maryland, he went to Chicago in 2008 for his Bachelor’s of Music in Composition from DePaul University. After graduating, he went on to receive his Master’s in Fine Art in Music Composition from the California Institute of the Arts outside of Los Angeles. After living in Los Angeles for four years, he started writing music for an advertising company which moved him to New York in 2016. Since 2016, Coleman has worked as a composer and an audio engineer for various companies including the mediation app Calm, the fitness app Aaptiv, and the children’s television series Sesame Street. Throughout this time, Coleman always had a passion for teaching and has volunteered with organizations including New York Cares and Create Now to teach music to students of varying levels. After become a parent in 2024, Coleman decided to pursue his teaching certification at Queens College, so he could share what he has learned from a career in music with young, aspiring musicians. He currently lives in Ridgewood, Queens with his family.
