Cooper Malanowski

Cooper is from Farmingdale, NY and grew up in a family of six kids with two music teachers as parents! He had the opportunity to be on the teacher side of the classroom from a very young age, shadowing both of his parents and helping to teach sectionals and workshops for their jazz ensembles and chamber groups.

Cooper went to the New England Conservatory and earned a performance degree in Jazz Trombone, where he also taught in Boston Public Schools through a teaching fellowship. Upon moving back to the New York City area, he started a private studio in piano, guitar, and brass, and has been working with students in PS9 and PS452. He also performs with his quartet around Brooklyn and Manhattan, with whom he has released an album entitled “Summit”.

As a musician, composer, and human being that has been shaped by the power of music education, Cooper believes it is his duty to give back to the younger generation to both share with them the love he has for music, but also to help them become well-rounded individuals who respect the arts.
