Joshua Pitt
Joshua is originally from Racine, Wisconsin. His background is primarily in vocal music, which led him to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Vocal Performance at Western Illinois University and later a Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. At UNL, Joshua discovered his passion for direction and began studying Stage directing, where he had the honor of presenting a short chamber opera called “The Last Sorcerer” by Pauline Viardot and a traveling production of Menotti’s “The Telephone”.
Throughout his education and professional experiences as a musician, he developed a deep care for the ways that music can build creativity and community. What intrigues him most about music education is the opportunity to help give students the same experiences that he was fortunate to receive in the early years of his training. Joshua wholly believe that every student deserves to have the chance to explore their own voice and experience the exhilarating nature of music.
He is especially excited about working with young students because music can be such a powerful way to help them grow musically and personally. He aims to create a classroom where students can openly express themselves, take risks, collaborate and build with others, and above all, discover the power of music.
