Leah Thakur

Originally from New England, Leah moved to New York in 2013 to pursue her Bachelor’s in Music Education from Hofstra University. She then started her career as an ETM Music Teacher and eventually transitioned to work for the NYC Department of Education. She has also worked as a Woodwind Instructor for the Mineola Marching Band, which won the State Champion Title 3 times while she was on staff. While teaching, she received her MA in Music & Music Education and her EdM in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. Now, with almost 9 years of classroom experience including general music, choir, band, and musical theater across Staten Island, the Bronx and Long Island, Leah is honored to continue supporting the incredible students and teachers of NYC as the Intern Supervisor and Elementary Curriculum Writer.
